Eiffel Tower on vacation. One look at each other and that was it. She was from Mexico City and her English wasn't great. He didn't speak any Spanish. They ended up marrying as he frantically started to learn Spanish. Her family gave them a very fancy wedding on New Year's Eve many years ago. As in true 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' style, her brother taught him some crucial phrases such as 'Happy New Year' in Spanish. As he greeted everyone in the reception line, he mispronounced one word a little so it translated as "Happy New A-Hole". Of course, they let him say it to everyone!!! 3 grown kids later, they are still married in the DC area and still two of our best friends.
