THE PARKER FAMILY BUSINESS
In the mid-40s, Richard Parker of Belvoir, NC sold a tract of timber along the Tar River. Some of the trees that leaned out over the river were rejected by the lumber company as being too difficult to remove. So Mr. Parker gave these to two of his sons, Ralph and Graham, which they snaked down the river and had sawed into lumber. In 1946, these became part of the first Parker's Barbecue Restaurant in Wilson, North Carolina started by Ralph and Graham Parker with their partner Henry Brewer.
