Don't agree with a major weather event like a hurricane
People will complain no matter what you do, true. No decision will change that.
Therefore, when there is an event this large over a matter of days (vs. local forecast for 1 inch of snow overnight), you do what is most logical. You tell everyone that you'll issue something at noon Sunday, and to stand by. People with brains can set up "just in case" arrangements, and if they don't need them, fine.
This choosing to close schools Monday and Tuesday for a hurricane 3-4 days away that, even if it were to make it to Georgia would likely be rain and some wind gusts, just says you don't much value education, you overreact or both.
