It takes significantly more effort, but the NoScript add-on squashes a lot


Trick is that you have to go through each and every thing that a web page tries to load, and decide if you want to whitelist it or not. But, the upside is that you never get an interstitial ad, hell Youtube had started putting ads before videos for a year or two before I even noticed it by using a different web browser.
