ESPN hype aside, soccer is only marginally more popular than 40 yrs ago
I'm old enough to remember being told in the 70s - with pretty much the same language and arguments being used in 2017 - that soccer would take over by the year 2000. Soccer may be "growing" (from a minuscule base), but it's still the distant 5th most popular team sport in the US & Canada.
The fact that 80%-90% of the game is played with virtually no chance of scoring in the next 10 seconds will forever doom it in the US. [Post edited by marcbvtgm at 10/11/2017 11:27AM]
