Not sure what he is going after but Shimano...


Has always been good to me. I have several TLD series reels. Single speed. They are good for lighter duty trolling, not casting. They are not level wind.
If you are talking a Penn 30 series thats a heavier duty expensive reel.
Depends on what he is going after....inshore, offshore etc
