When I first moved to Stratford, CT I was unprepared for that first


Halloween.

It's a city ish setting, close set houses maybe on .2 acre lots or less AND there was a house 5 houses away from me that took Halloween very seriously. Always turned their garage into an A+ haunted house. Drew a LOT of kids to the neighborhood.

So for the first Halloween there, ran out of candy early. For the next 4 years, we probably got 400 to the door each year.

Then we moved to Trumbull, CT, much more spaced out and smaller neighborhood, with us at the top of a hill. If they climbed the hill, they only got our house and the one across the street. Many didn't bother with the climb. Our neighbors in the loop got 50+ every year....we only got 25 or less.

Now in Victor, NY we're expecting 25 ish.

The 400 or so in Stratford was ridiculous. I just sat on the stoop all night as going back inside and having them ring the bell was a waste of my time.
