Nowhere near, actually


We live pretty much right in the middle of town (which explains some of the crowd we see -- a lot of people from the surrounding county come in specifically for trick or treating). We're also just down the street from the fire house (they always have giveaways for kids), adjacent to an old plantation house that now serves as a venue for parties and receptions (and they usually have some kind of Halloween event), and around the corner from the current middle school (where the local Rec Department hosts a big event).

Basically, we live in a neat town (which we dearly love) that has a lot of unique traditions and institutions. The street we live on has become integrated into that for Halloween within the last 10 years or so. I'm not a huge Halloween guy (that's my wife and kids' thing), but I do appreciate the social aspect of it.
