Clemson only had 2 classes, '15-16 at #4 and #6 prior to title

I don't know if you will ever see a top-5 class at VT. Everyone who does it on a consistent basis either has a budget literally double that of VT, or they are willing to bend the rules further than VT's administration is. Especially with the cost-of-attendance scholarships going in there, it won't happen overnight, but this will be another factor that funnels everything, even more strongly than it already is, to the schools with the biggest athletic budgets. I could see VT get some fringe top 10 class as a high water mark. I think a reasonable target is to be in the 15-20 range. But if you want VT to be in the top 5 of recruiting almost every year, you're going to need to find twice as much money for the football program as right now. Drive For 25 is a start, but only a start. It can help VT tread water, but they need a lot more to move up to a consistent top-5 recruiting level.
