I disagry that most old people are as described in the OP. My experience is they're just as likely to ignore you and curse at you for perceived offenses as anyone else. As a group they don't have any more integrity or decency or common sense than the rest of us. They certainly don't have a monopoly on work ethic or kindness. Plenty of them have these qualities, but plenty don't as well, just like every other age group.
