Dale Sr’s death jarred Jr from performing for many years


He wasn’t ever going to be as good as his dad, but he was SO much better when he first started than in recent years. IIRC he won the all star race his rookie year. I think it took the aggressiveness out of him and obviously made him realize maybe racing that hard isn’t worth it.
