You're probably onto something there.

I-40 through the Smokies is downright treacherous.... but every time I drive it into Tennessee, I have 2 hands on the wheel and I check my speed. I-81 is a similar experience. Once I get to Troutville, that last stretch into Christiansburg has me paying careful attention to everything around me, moreso than anywhere else on the drive to Blacksburg.
