And...OK...starting early.

But, but...My boy is coming down for a FULL SIX DAYS!... bringing a boat, a load of food - told me to plug in a spare fridge, haha. Ready to fish, eat, repeat... and savor every minute. I know damn well how these times will be more and more of a rarity as he establishes his own life...we all know the drill..,"cat's in the cradle" and all.

I was already planning a mini-"tailgate" for the UVA game - just my wife and me, ha...but I was going to try to make it kind of nice. And then my son surprised me with this news!

Gotta admit...I've had a lot of high peaks, and low valleys in life, and plenty of time for introspection...second guessing. I suppose that's what you do as you age. The good news? I can now recognize a "true" peak when it lands in my lap. :)

My wife is busy now, tidying up the shack in preparation, and has got Youtube on the TV automatically rolling through songs from the early 80's. It was the greatest decade of my life - the decade I met her as a teenager...the memories are flooding in... intensely. And they are truly awesome. (and there goes "I've had the time of my life" playing just now - choking me up). And so this...this is what Thanksgiving is all about! It's going to blow away that whole decade way back when...and all the valleys, too.
