I am in SC, 2 kids (let Ex claim third) filing jointly

What I did was use two different calculators and analyzed my 2017 and 2016 taxes in these two calculators:

Not sure if they are the best or not, but I tried to see what would happen. My total take home pay ranged about $60k different between those years, partially due to capital gains and partially due to income. My worst benefit was +$5k, my best was +$12k.

The marketwatch calculator was more beneficial to me than the mcalc, but both looked better. Not sure if there is a better one to use, but Bing gave me these two and I have used both sites in other ways before so I trust them.
