“Romantic”? Perhaps, but personally I’d say development of the middling talent is certainly more entertaining to follow and watch. And I’m not sure I’d enjoy VT football as much if it mirrored the Saban/Tide model. I know for damned sure I’d grouse if we had a plethora of crazy-assed fans imitating some of the Alabama contingent. Pipe dream or illusion maybe, but I hope the game remains a GAME, played by student athletes, representing our university, in a diverse consommé of college football models.
