I don't have an issue with broadcast/commercial volume so much as


consistency between the volume of music and sound effects vs. dialogue.

Characters in a show will reveal key plot points while talking in a whisper, then they will immediately cut the scene to either a musical score or a car blowing up that knocks the windows out of your house if you had the volume turned up so you could make out the dialogue.

Probably puts me squarely in the "get off my lawn" crowd, but I've pretty much left the closed captions feature turned on all the time just so I can follow dialogue without having to constantly turn the volume up and down.
