As a Pirate fan, I was initially a bit underwhelmed ...


by the return as I don't see any of the four as a 'difference-maker'. However, the more I read about it the more I realized it was probably a fair return. Cole was really good in 2015 but he was hurt and ineffective in 2016 and was downright bad last year. He has 'ace' stuff for sure but he is a lot like Jeff Samardzija. Stuff is great, results are not. I hope the Astros can figure him out because he is a good dude and has great potential. But some people were expecting a 'Chris Sale' like return and that simply wasn't going to happen with Cole.

To me the key is Moran. If can be a decent regular at 3B for 5-6 years in Pittsburgh and they get a few years out of Musgrove and Feliz then I think they did well in the trade. Cole was definitely leaving after 2019 anyway - he is a Boras guy.
