Sunday morning in the Lounge..

Greetings from high atop the Residence Inn

Gorgeous sunset last night, fiery orange horizon rising into a deep blue sky, the moon a fingernail clipping thin crescent. The parking lot lamps across the street appeared as a field of Chinese sky lanterns ready to ascend

No, I'm not taking drugs. Sorry about the loss. I got a little too cocky predicting a win, I'll just shut up next time and let the Karma flow. I guess I should score this game as a win, I got there and enjoyed it, part of the enjoyment is not knowing the outcome. I had a pretty nice seat on row C right behind the VT bench the only problem being the two good ole boys behind me keeping up a running commentary the entire game some of which I think violated that long announcement at the beginning of the game about not - in my words - cussing out the players, coaches, referees, fellow fans, opposing fans, clean up crew, Peter Rabbit the guy playing those 5 gallon construction pails at halftime, cleaning crew - sorry, already mentioned them - concessions people with any lewd, racist, inflammatory, cleverly witty, dry witty, pithy comments etc. One of the comments was something like "C'mon Buzz draw a technical, get these guys fired up, Greenberg would have done that"!

So there you go, There are people who have some nostalgia for Seth Greenberg. (Joke, I never hated the guy) At one moment it looked like Clarke in frustration pushed Buzz, but on reflection maybe that was them doing their little finger handshake gone wrong. At another point, Justin and the opposing pg were standing next to each other and talking. They could have been twins, same height, body build etc. and it appeared to be some easy going chat while keeping their eyes on when the action might start up again. Just wondering, talking about how to play other teams? good restaurants? How weird the Karma feels today? That's why they play the game, something seemed out of joint but Buzz is calm and without looking I'll defer to threads on the basketball board.

I did go to Greek's Cellar that evening like I said I would, had a Greek Salad, a couple Guinessess, I needed something green after ingesting the entire pizza the night before at Dogtown. Two guys walk in and sit next to me, one of them being Matt Gentry the AP photographer for the Roanoke Times - apparently he's a regular there - and had a pretty good chat with them. Talked about the game, about hiking, apparently he's hiked the Appalachian Trail, knows Russian Hokie (who was there court side at the bball game) music, stuff I'm interested in.

Back to good energy flow, returned to hotel after game, saw sunset, pleasant dinner. I'm not in agreeance with the post a couple weeks about always doing late checkout as a life hack, but hate to leave, this is a nice place, heck, even the waffle iron worked without a hitch, popping out light, golden brown waffles, when was the last time that ever happened? Usually you have to pry the damn thing out with that big plastic fork. Got a really good rate this time, but come football season i'd be afraid to ask.

See? I'm doing it again, futzing around. Time to go, get on the road

PS I put the "Residence Inn" part inside the post since Will is advertising the Hyatt just catty-corner from here. It looks nice too. whew, my post won't get deleted now.

PPS Good haircut at Hokie Hair near the intersection yesterday, Still works this morning. I'm gold.
