Yes - our 12yo daughter was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis last year
I guess it is genetic, from my wife's side of the family. I've never known anyone who had arthritis in my family. Anyway, first she was on pills - I am terrible with names, but like Mexadrill or something. They didn't work. Then she did Embrel, through weekly self-injection. She is a tough kid, she never flinched and insisted on doing it herself. That worked for about 2 months, and then didn't. She has been on a new thing, Remecade, through an infusion every 8 weeks. That worked for 5 months, and now is showing signs of not working. Drugs working and not working seems to be typical for what she has. I hate that she has it and as a dad I think about it and her constantly, and how much it sucks for her because she is a very good athlete and a smart kid and she is dealing with something she shouldn't have to deal with. On the flip side, she and I have talked about how some kids have it much worse with cancer and other terrible diseases. So there is that.
