Many, many years ago ...


I made the mistake of answering my home phone (pre caller ID days) and it was a salesman from NY Life cold calling. I had just gotten married and bought my first home and decided I should look into life insurance so that my wife could keep our house if something happened to me. So this salesman came over to my house a few nights later and gives me about the hardest sales job I have ever encountered on a whole life plan. I managed to get him out of the house without signing anything and I continued my research. I had auto insurance with USAA and knew I probably wanted term life rather than whole life. Meanwhile, this SOB calls me every single day and sometimes more than once. From my paperwork, he had my work number too and was calling my office and leaving messages. I quit taking his calls but he finally got in touch with me and I told him I had gone with a USAA term policy. He literally berated me for five minutes about how stupid that was and finished with 'I hope you don't need life insurance soon' and hung up on me.

So death threat is a little strong but he was an a-hole of Biblical proportions.
