LinkedIn invites...


I occasionally get invites to connect with certain people through LinkedIn, which I simply ignore. I do not have a LinkedIn account, never have. Sometimes I know the people, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I get the invite only once, sometimes I get it several times. Sometimes I get them in my work e-mail, sometimes my personal e-mail. It all seems somewhat, but not quite...random. What's the deal with these?
