Too many stories/plots aren't making sense, or aren't paying off

SPOILERS

1) The "All-out War" has become an all-out stalemate -- Rick promises to kill Negan, Negan promises to kill Rick, and nothing happens
2) Rick's entire plan was based on surrounding Negan's Sanctuary with zombies? Slow, easily distracted zombies? As if Rick's group hasn't out-maneuvered or out-smarted the hordes before?
3) Why were both sides so desperate for an alliance with the Trash People? How many times did they double-cross (or flee) Negan & Rick?
4) Now the Trash People are dead, so what was the point? Bunch of wasted TV time.
5) Carl gets surprised by 1-2 zombies, in daylight? Not buying it.
6) Rick's group has bullied the Beach Women, stolen their weapons, and killed their leader -- but hey guys, let's join together! Maybe the writers are trying to show Rick's group as no better/worse than Negan's group -- but it isn't quite working.
