The thing that allowed me to finally drop the landline

was (don't laugh) a headset.

One thing that has always bugged me about a cell phone is they are ungawdly uncomfortable to talk on. Especially for anything remotely business related where you need to use a computer or do paperwork while on the phone. A conventional phone is big enough you can pinch it between your shoulder and ear and go about your business. But that is just about impossible on a cell.

So I got a bluetooth headset. Anytime I need to make a call that will be longer than 30 seconds, I put the headset on. Once I did that, I noticed it was actually more comfortable to talk on than the land line was.
