Which basic strategic defense items...

are we unable to build? I have decades of direct experience building said items for the USN and USMC that suggests this is precisely not an issue at all. Zero point zero. A tariff would significantly increase the cost of defense (and many other things) because for many alloys, there is no domestic substitute. Specialty alloys, such as those used in space and defense, often are sole source. I can assure you that this will make it more expensive to keep our troops safe and that makes me sad.

Who doesn’t have a job? ... and when did conservatives decide that they hated the free market? Asking for a friend.
