Building code in our area now requires a sprinkler system in all new houses

Since we're rural and houses are on well water, this requires a holding tank and separate pump. So a grease fire in the kitchen results in a minimum of 300 gallons of water dumped in the kitchen. Not to mention the additional $5000+ cost of the sprinkler system.
