Ever heard of MADD


Heck, the whole reason we have a 21 drinking age instead of 18 is the hysterical protests about drunk drivers.

We have made great strides in reducing drunk driving deaths (down 50% in 35 years). But those efforts do seem to have stalled and we are generally numb to the risk at this point. Another day, another 29 dead from drunk drivers.

1,077 people have been killed by a mass shooter since 1966 (the Texas clocktower shooter). Back to your original point, there are 10-20x that many killed by drunk drivers every...single...year.

In the social media age, we are really good at getting whipped into a frenzy about sensational, but statistically less significant things.
