If the Big XII is going to expand, then I am assuming it


will do it in a way to maintain clean divisions. In fact, the Big XII already has 1 of the divisions right now:

Division A: WVU, Iowa St, Kansas, and Kansas St
Division B: OU, OK State, Texas, TCU, Baylor, and TT

If the Big XII is only to going to expand to 12, then add 2 to Division A. If it is going to expand to 14, then add 3 to Division A and 1 to Division B. If the Big XII is going to expand to 16 and implement rotating pods, then it could get a little tricky.

Division A: WVU + 3
Division B: Iowa St + 3
Division C: Kansas, Kansas St, OU, OK State
Division D: Texas, TCU, Baylor, TT

The pairings would be as follows: AB and CD (ensures the Red River Shootout as an annual conference game). The other option would be to have 2 permanent divisions of 8 with 1 protected cross-division game to ensure the following pairings are annual conference games:

Kansas-Kansas St
OU-OK State
Texas-Texas Tech
TCU-Baylor

The assumption being that both OU and Texas are in the same division. Anything beyond 16 starts to border on a confederation which make it easier for the conference to eventually break up into 2 smaller conferences down the road.
