If you can make it past Fredericksburg by 5:00 am then 95. Anytime after


then take 301. That is my rule of thumb when traveling that corridor from Richmond. By 5:30-5:45 it's a mess in that direction almost all day long but for sure from 5:30 am til 9 am and then 3 pm til 8 pm the other way. I just got 301 normally and don't worry about it. I'd rather hit traffic lights than traffic. Beware of cops on VA side of 301 though and right over bridge in MD. Radar traps galore and speed limit is 55. They love out of state plates and eat them up.
