First, I will not comment on Hardwick other than to say people that meet and know him tend to form their opinions one way or the other. You rarely find anybody that would be characterized as neutral when it comes to VT's coach. VT's facilities and support are good and the primary thing that keeps them from being great is an uncontrollable factor, the weather. The biggest challenge is weather/climate. Nothing, from a competitive standpoint, replaces great weather year round where you can play and practice outside. The programs that are exceptions to the weather advantage typically have longstanding tradition, throw tons of money at the program and for all intents and purposes function just like a warm weather program.
