Rescue Rooter can suck it. Had a tech come by today due to my AC not working
I don't know jack about this stuff but I got the feeling this guy was trying to screw me over pretty quickly. We went down to the unit and he pulled off the access panel and pointed at the yellow wire. "This circuit board is not the original, whoever replaced it put in the wrong board. This yellow wire doesn't have anywhere to be connected. You're going to need a whole new unit cause they don't make the board for this anymore." Not digging that information but we go ahead and schedule an appointment for someone to come measure everything tomorrow, knowing I had another AC guy coming within a few hours. Rescue Rooter guy charges me $90 then gives me a pamphlet about some product for my water tank, something we hadn't talked about at all. That pretty much sealed the "this guy doesn't give a shiRt about anything other than selling me a bunch of crap I probably don't really need" feeling.
A couple hours later the guys my dad recommended came in, spent five minutes here, and fixed it. They were pretty pissed off when I told them about Rescue Rooter.
"So what you're saying is I don't need a whole new unit?"
"You don't need anything, all we had to do was connect that wire. Rescue Rooter is a con job."
For those in Northern Virginia I highly recommend those guys at Integrity Air, good work and no BS. To Rescue Rooters credit, Terry at corporate seemed to be genuinely sorry and refunded the 90 bucks.
