There's really nothing to see landscape wise once you get past the Blue Ridge. The Midwest is interesting only in that you can actually see beyond the trees at the edge of the highway, but it's not like there's anything there to look at. If you stop along the way, though, there are interesting things to see and do. The St. Louis Arch is cool to go up in and they have a science museum and park that are worth a visit. I had fun at the John Deere HQ and museum in the Quad Cities area. Omaha has a cool zoo and the world's largest ball of stamps at Boys' Town. I think the birthplace of Kool-Aid is in Hastings, Neb. I always recommend looking at Roadside America and seeing what odd things you can find along the way.
