Just one bill? After my wife's hospital stay we got around two dozen bills

from about 10-15 different companies. And I'm not exaggerating, it really was that many. One from the ambulance company, anesthesiologist, x-ray tech, etc. And they came over the course of about 3 months.

Why is medical billing such a MCF? Why can't all of the vendors bill the hospital and then the hospital bills you directly? You know, like how every other industry on the planet does it. Can you imagine going to a hotel and getting a separate bill from the valet, housekeeper, food service, cable company, etc.
