Preface, I've been in love with 1st generation Mustangs since I was old enough to notice cars (at a time when there were still plenty on the road). I have an opportunity to get into a 66 coupe that has been restored over the last 7 years by an older semi-retired mechanic/shop owner. It's got a few typical fit and finish issues, but seems to be a really solid, straight car. Upgraded leather pony interior. Runs well, everything works. It's got a fiberglass hood that I don't love, but the rest is all good metal. The paint job looks more like an Earl Schieb special, but looks decent enough until you scrutinize it. My thought is I can drive this thing as is and enjoy it, then get full restoration at some point in the future if/when I so desire. I have a 13 year old son, and it would be neat to get out and turn a wrench with him from time to time. I think I can get it for $8K or so, which seems like a deal. On the other hand, I certainly don't need it and really don't need to spend the money.
