^^I second this^^

This is coming from someone who constantly struggles with trying to make the "correct" financial decisions. But as I get older, I realize how quickly life rushes past us while we're distracted by working and planning for a future that isn't guaranteed any more than our next breath. I've also only recently started to realize how quickly children grow up, and I dread the day that my little one leaves the "nest" for good.

So, if this is something that you and your son will enjoy together and will bond over, then I say it is the most important/best $8,000 that you will ever spend. Go for it, and enjoy the ride...literally, and figuratively.

(P.S. - listen to all the other sage advice posted about what to scrutinize before you fork over the cash.)
