It's not very common, I do a lot of hiking and never seen it...


although I like to hike mountains and it prefers creek beds and river botttoms type stuff. It also doesn't tolerate shade so you'll never run across it on a forest walk unless there's a big open creek area.

I've never ID'd one in 50 years.
