Fabulous chance to learn more about him from himself

He shared some stories of the Centennial Commission in his classes but the early years were good to hear. My favorite story from the Gettysburg Centennial was when a cannon team was having its photo taken. The reenactor ramming the charge lost his arm when the other fired the cannon too soon. It took his lower arm below the elbow; still clutching the ramrod.
The football officiating stories were great. He described a crazy play with several changes of possession (on a kickoff, I think) where he got the call correct. The best one was where a coach didn't care for him. Before one of his home games, he and Bud were walking around the field about an hour before the game, checking the end zone markers, etc. Bud said a new rule had been approved that gave him authority as soon as he walked on the field. At one point, the coach said to Bud, "Well, do you [SOBs] think you can call the game right today?" He said he reached for his yellow flag and said, "Sure will, 15 yards on the opening kickoff!" And he gave that Robertson smile.
