Haven't been in a couple of decades, but...

There are lots of really good spots in the lower James...around the M&M bridge and in other little spots between there and the Naval base...all the typical fare but mainly croakers, spots, etc. Even up the Elizabeth River there are a few money spots...IMO, the river fishing is more consistent than the Lynhaven area. Lynhaven would probably be better if you're trying to get into the seasonal gray or speckled trout runs.
