I just used Google Earth Pro for the first time, WOW!

got some crazy street views of my old neighborhood...amazing how the satellite system can synthesize trees and composite structures- freaky stuff.

Anyway, Little Creek Inlet is the perfect place to keep a small fishing boat. Lynnhaven Inlet is 5 miles, North Thimble Island on the bay bridge tunnel is 6 miles, The I-64 ship channel into the James River is 8 miles and its 18 miles more or less to Fisherman's Island on the Eastern Shore.

I'm used to running very long distances in the Gulf because in the Big Bend area the water is very shallow. We have to run down fresh water rivers to hit the Gulf. My average bottom fishing trip would range from a 12 mile to 25 mile run outbound depending upon the season and what depts the fish were living in. So...fishing in the Chesapeake Bay will be a welcome change of pace. If I get a sturdy enough boat I might even take it out into the ocean on perfect weather days.
