Here's mine from the other day..

Karim: Hey, Bear. This is Karim. I’d like to talk with you about an offer from Marriott to come and visit one of our resorts with a 70% discounted rate.

Me: OK, what’s the catch?

Karim: oh, there’s no catch.

Me: so I can just come to a resort, pay a 70% discounted fee with no strings attached?

Karim: that’s right.

Me: ok, I’m interested. (Not really, but I’m just waiting for the catch)

Karim: ok, well let’s get you scheduled, then! Are you married?

Me: why?

Karim: well, if you’re married, your wife has to come, too.

Me: well, that sounds like a catch! Tell me the rest.

Karim: well, you both have to attend a 90 minute presentation and

Me: stop. You said there no catches and no strings attached. So, basically, you lied to me.

Karim: I can see how it might look that way to you, but

Me: stop again. How does it sound to you? Look, I know you’re just doing your job but this is a perfect example of why people don’t like telemarketing. You’re not being truthful and that’s disrespectful.

Karim: so, you’re not interested?

Me: no, I’m not. And please remove me from your list.

Karim: ok. Have a nice day. (Hangs up)

Me: (satisfied grin)

Karim: (calls next person on his list)
