I feel for you and your father

It has to be tough on him to come to this realization especially if he is mentally preparing himself to make sure he says all he wants to say before he leaves. Are you planning on going with him?

I had a great uncle, he passed in 2015, who would always greet me with the following, "You are looking great. Who is your embalmer?" When I was younger I would greet him right back with the same thing. It kinda became "our thing" at one point.
However, as I got older I become more uncomfortable with saying it back to him because I knew he wouldn't be around forever. I admit there was even a couple times when I had the same thought as you after he said it.
