IMHO it impacts the season long strategy.


After 16 it was largely luck of the draw. So I think you will see less wrestlers taking time off during or at the end of the season. Seeding 17-33 will matter and they will need as many matches as possible.

Also, you will have less upsets in the earlier rounds of the NCAA. In the past, there were always some lurkers below the rankings that could surprise some higher seeds. I think the change might have occurred due to some coach complaints.
