I too, find it hard to develop conclusions based on different sets of data

points. Our monitoring now is capable of basically real-time wind-speed, wind-sheer, and pressure calculations. Not long ago, much of that data was only recorded via buoys, and direct flights into the eye of the storms. So, Data gaps between readings could mask intensity jumps.
