If you are not means tested out of SS, and keep in mind the payout is

much smaller than an annuity would most likely provide. I am confident SS will still be there (I am at least 10-15 years from retirement) but have a feeling if you made an effort to get a retirement amount together or have many assets they will decide you don't need it and means test it.
