Doctor Who has always been interesting but the new writing so far is a big drop from the previous seasons. The casting is fine and the acting is in line with all previous actors. But the writing is severely lacking.

It's hard when a show is good and then goes down vs. something like Manifest or Magnum PI that started bad all around and stayed that way.
