I was going to check it out until I heard that some characters ...

Got psychic powers. Throwing way too much in there, IMHO.

I stupidly tried a couple episodes of A Million Little Things because I like some of the actors, but it's the same thing -- throwing in way too many huge plot points way too early in the game.
