Guatemala & Nicaragua. These are very poor countries with lots of criminal gangs in their cities. Poverty is the main motivator for their migration. There are lots of other countries in Central & South American that are stable & prosperous: Costa Rica, Panama, & most of South America (Venezuela excluded for politics). I would loved to live in several of these. They are affordable with stable governments, lots to do & retired gringos are welcome. I've been to Honduras & Costa Rica several times in the past decade & the difference between the two is glaringly obvious. But regardless of the conditions, I've always been welcomed & enjoyed being there.
