I need some electrical help.

I bought 2 standing lamps to flank each side of a settee. (I had to show my culture...but yes, I never heard of a settee until I bought one. It's a high backed loveseat). Each lamp has a foot switch off the lamp cord for on/off. Where one of the lamps will sit makes accessing the foot switch difficult. How do I wire these lamps to run off of one foot switch? (the accessible outlet is not controlled by a switch). I opened up the foot switch and it has 1 broken wire (I'm assuming neutral) and 1 wire bypassing the switch and intact. (see picture I found online) This is just lamp cord w/ no ground. There isn't room inside the switch to add another line.

Can I just spice in the other lamp cord after the switch, basically just make a Y out of each wire? I've looked at diagrams for multiple lights on 1 switch, but they're all for in-wall applications w/ a ground and running romex. These don't seem to be applicable for a straight one-to-one splice that I'm thinking about trying. I also don't want to assume my idea will NOT be a fire hazard.

I did find a foot activated extension cord, but it's 14ft long and will take 4-5 days to come in. I'd also like to avoid a 14ft bundled up cord laying in plain sight.
