Beer would be above and beyond that. I don't track beer spending. The

figure is actually higher than the $20K as I just noticed that about 200 bottles in that time period have no price. Assuming they are the $15 average of the other ones, that's another $3,000.

And why do I know the wine? My wife and I honeymooned in Sonoma and Paso Robles and bought about 6 cases of wine. Shortly after we got them, I decided to start tracking a few things in a basic spreadsheet. Info about the winery, vintage year, when it should be drunk by, and when we drunk it, I'd move it to 2nd tab and record when we drank it and how much we liked it.

At first, price wasn't in the listing, especially since I had no idea how much I spent on those first 60 plus bottles, and I wasn't tracking it generally in that first year. Throw in some gifts to us and/or others where I forgot the price before I recorded it and there's a bunch that have a blank in price. Not as many recently.

Generally, I wanted to keep track of how long we should let some of our better bottles age, but also set a date that they shouldn't go past. Then on the 'drunk' tab, record if we liked it a lot, a little, not much so we knew what we wanted to buy again, what was a good value (ie, "Hey, this $7 wine was GREAT....let's get more of that!")

Now it's about 14 years of buying and drinking history.

Beer consumption, dollar wise, in that same time period has probably been a little bit less money.
