I would dispute that, at least at some laundromats.


There is one around the corner from me that has both front and top-loader machines. The front loaders are colossal, and more expensive, so they are almost never in use. I think the only people who use them are like me who need to wash a comforter or sleeping bag or something similar.

I'd bet a residential washing machine owned by a typical family of four gets used 2x as much (or more) as those commercial washers. And yet, no stank.
