My daughter is in 4th grade as well.

She's been getting the same thing. I think it's one of the Standards of Learning for 4th grade.

4.3 The student will investigate and understand the characteristics of electricity.

a conductors and insulators;

b basic circuits;

c static electricity;

Introduction to static electricity and charged objects (4-H.1)
d the ability of electrical energy to be transformed into light and motion, and to produce heat;

e simple electromagnets and magnetism; and

Identify magnets that attract or repel (4-I.1)
Label magnets that attract or repel (4-I.2)
Compare strengths of magnetic forces (4-I.3)
f historical contributions in understanding electricity.

Sorry about the formatting. I'm on my phone in a meeting.
